| 熱き思い>> 私が一瞬にして惚れてしまった往年の俳優アイヴァン・ディクソン。彼の主演映画が見たいが為に、5ドルも出せば最新映画が見られるアメリカで、思わず20ドル支払って彼の映画を手に入れた程だ。その手に入れてしまった映画が「Nothing But a Man」。なんでそんなに切ないの？と涙が出るほどに切ない物語であり、このアイヴァン・ディクソンの演技が非常に切ない。（ちなみに上の彼の写真はその映画のジャケット写真。切ないでしょう？）私が彼を最初に見たのが時代が前後するが、「カー・ウォッシュ」の彼だった。この映画での彼は威厳に満ちた演技で、見るものに勇気を与える人だった。このディクソンと、若きビル・デュークが、この映画の柱となり素晴らしいドラマにしたのは言うまでもない。そうなのだ。ディクソンは、映画によって全然違う印象なのだ。「カー・ウォッシュ」と「Nothing But a Man」の間に見たシドニー・ポワチエ主演の「A Raising In the Sun」での彼。密室での緊迫したドラマに、彼はコメディカルな演技で非常に和ませてくれた。その映画のDVDジャケットを見て欲しい。この上の切ない彼とは全く違うのだから... 今は監督業しかしていないのが、非常に悔やまれる。きっと彼なら、色んな映画でカメレオンとなり、また今の年齢から察するに、威厳ある演技を私達はもっと見れた筈なのだから... |
| バイオ>> NYで生まれたアイヴァン・ディクソンは、優れたアスリートでもあったので、まずはシドニー・ポワチエがアカデミー賞にノミネートされた「手錠のままの脱獄」でポワチエのスタントをしてキャリアをスタートしたディクソンは、次の年にはポワチエと「ポギーとべス」で共演する事になる。何度かポワチエの映画で共演したり、1964年には主演の「Nothing But a Man」が出来るが、公開当時はあまり注目されずに、後にビデオで再リリースされた時に評価を得た。その頃には既にディクソンは、監督業が主流となっていた。数々ものアクションTVシリーズを監督として成功させた。Directors Guild（監督協会）から、名誉賞も受賞している。まだ俳優をする前に人気DJの経験もある彼は、ハワイにKoniFMというラジオ・ステーションも所有している。 |
