きっと女性が大好きな女優の1人。私も以前から変わらず大好きな女優の1人。なぜならやっぱりその存在感が圧倒的だから。それでいて、色んな女性の面を出してくれるのも彼女だけ。時には強く（レイ）、時にはチャーミングに（A Thin Line...）、時には近寄りがたく（ポエティック・ジャスティス）、時には面白く（Love and Action in Chicago）、時には素敵な奥さん（エージェント＆エネミー・オブ・アメリカ）、時にはいい友人（ハイヤーラーニング）だったりする。女性が望む女性像を演じ続けてくれるから、大好き。台詞回しも上手い。

カリフォルニア州ロサンジェルスに生まれ育ったレジーナ・キング。特別養護学校の先生の母と電気工の父は、レジーナと妹のレイナが生まれてすぐに離婚した。高校はイングルウッド近郊にある多くの有名人を輩出している公立学校ウエストチェスター高校に進み、同じ高校に通っていたニア・ロング等も通っていた俳優のトッド・ブリッジス（アーノルド坊やは人気者）の母のアクティングクラスに小さい頃から通っていた。そして14歳にて人気シットコム「227」にてマーラ・ギブスの娘役でデビュー。すぐにお茶の間の人気者になった。そして大学はカリフォルニアの名門南カリフォルニア大学に進む（卒業はしてない）。大学に通いながら、ジョン・シングルトンの名作「Boyz N The Hood」に出演。またチャールズ・バーネットの「To Sleep with Anger」にも少し出演し、トゥパックやジャネット・ジャクソンと共演した「ポエティック・ジャスティス」にも出演した。その後も「ハイヤー・ラーニング」に出演し、ジョン・シングルトンとは3度目の共演を果たした。「Friday」やマーティン・ローレンスと共演した「A Thin Line Between Love and Hate」等のブラックムービーに多数出演。その後はキューバ・グッティング・ジュニアがオスカーの助演男優賞に輝いた「エージェント」ではグッティングの妻を演じて、存在感をアピールした。次の作品では人気絶頂にあったウィル・スミスの妻を演じた「エネミー・オブ・アメリカ」にも出演。そして2000年に入り、クリス・ロックと共演した「天国からきたチャンピオン　２００２」に出演し、コミカルな面も見せた。そして2004年には「レイ」のマギー・ヘンドリックスを熱演。観客からも批評家からも支持を集めた。2005年には人気アニメの「ブーンドックス」にて主役の声を担当したりと、様々なジャンルにチャレンジしている。最近では作品のジャンルを問わずに活躍している。
