●● レビュー New Wave has arrived!1976年ロサンジェルスのサウスセントラルに住む若者（ダニエル・ブレイカー）は口うるさいママ（エイサ・デイビス）に日曜の教会に行くように言われる。そこでゴスペルに触れ、強制的に教会のクワイアに入れられて、音楽に目覚めた。パンクロックを始め、貯めたお金でヨーロッパに行くと言うが... 新しい時代がやってきた予感。トニー賞にもノミネートされ、受賞も果たした舞台を映像化。その監督を担当したのがスパイク・リー。この舞台の魅力を余すところなく見事に映像に残している。汗、音楽、エネルギー、物語の魅力、観客の熱...全てだ。音楽のエネルギーをとにかく感じる。ジャズ、ブルース、ゴスペル、ロックと様々な音楽を用いて、そのエネルギーを発散している。その熱度は凄い。演者の汗はその熱度を伝えるのに十分役を果たしている。コミカルな台詞の部分と感動的な歌の部分のバランスも絶妙。70年代の雰囲気もある。物語も色んな国を旅していきながら、スピリッツジャーニーをして何かを見つけていく若者の姿が明るくて気分がいい。そして演者も少ないながらも上手く使いまわしているのが面白い。 とにかく新しい感覚。何よりも音楽のエネルギーと開放感を感じる。音楽を祝うという最高の形を彼等は見せつけてくれている。 (Reviewed >> 1/14/10：TV放映にて鑑賞) |

●● トリビア トニー賞も受賞している話題のミュージカルの映像を鬼才スパイク・リーが撮った作品。テレビにて公開される予定。 2009年サンダンス映画祭でプレミア上映予定。その後8月にアメリカのケーブルテレビにてペイ・パー・ビューにて公開。2010年1月12日にDVD発売、そして1月13日にPBSにて公開された。 |
